Bicci di Lorenzo
The painter Bicci di Lorenzo was born in Florence in 1373 and is thought to have died in Arezzo in 1452. He was linked to the late Gothic tradition and influenced by Lorenzo Monaco and Gentile da Fabriano. Among his most famous works are a Madonna Enthroned from 1433, preserved in the Galleria Nazionale in Parma; a Nativity from 1435 in the Church of San Giovanino dei Cavalieri in Florence; and the polyptych Madonna and Child with Saints from 1435, in the Church of Santi Ippolito e Donato in Bibbiena.
