| The original structure of
the pieve probably goes back to 1150. It has been
modified several times over the centuries and has a nave
and two aisles. Inside it are significant works of art,
among them the Assumption by the Master of Borgo
alla Collina and the Annunciation by Bicci
di Lorenzo. The sanctuary dedicated to Mary, consecrated in 1432 after an appearance of the Madonna in 1428, contains a Renaissance tribune embellished with Della Robbia terracottas. According to some scholars this tribune has similarities to the Portinari chapel of the Basilica of SantEustorgio in Milan. |
